Richard Chambers

A Pursuit of Happiness

Born and raised in Southwestern Ontario, Canada, Richard had a passion for visual arts and the outdoors at an early age. That passion brought him to the province of British Columbia in 2010.

In the fall of 2014, Richard applied for a stone carving position where he would have 3 months to earn a full-time position with Fathom Stone Art. Jon Fathom, the lead artist and owner of Fathom Stone Art worked with Richard full-time, teaching him the skills and techniques of basic stone carving.

Richard was accepted to work full-time with Fathom Stone Art. For the following 4 years, Richard worked with Jon Fathom, collaborating on various projects to be showcased in the gallery or in private collections.

Richard’s work is inspired by the wildlife in his surroundings. An encounter with one of many different species on a mountain is a powerful moment. Those moments can be captured in any number of ways, from photography to painting, but Richard chose stone sculpture.
